DESCRIPTION: This firsthand experience allows you to follow the path of trash and recyclables in Portage County. Participants will tour Cranberry Creek Landfill in Wisconsin Rapids, Portage County Solid Waste Materials Recovery Facility & Transfer Station, and end with a “tap talk” at O'so Brewing Co. Ticket price includes transportation from and returning to O'so Taproom, expert guides in waste management, and one beer ticket for every attendee (must be 21 or over). Proceeds from this event go to Recycling Connections, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting waste reduction, recycling, compost, and resource conservation. This event is offered in partnership with the Stevens Point Area YMCA.

SCHEDULE:  

          12:00 PM     Depart in the parking lot outside O'so

          12:30 PM       Arrive at Cranberry Creek Landfill for a tour

          3:00 PM       Drive to the Portage County Solid Waste Facility

          3:30 PM       Arrive and Tour the MRF and Transfer Station

          5:00 PM       Tap Talk at O'so (Drinks and Light Snacks)

TICKETS: $25/ticket, limited to 14 people 

WHO? This event is for anyone interested in knowing where their trash goes. Government officials, business owners, extension agents, educators, and any curious resident.
